This trainer uses movable do, the system where “do” is whatever the tonic of the key happens to be. That's why the reference pitch changes every round. Fixed-do drilling teaches you to recognize absolute pitches; movable do teaches you to recognize function — the pull of ti back to do, the openness of sol, the sag of fa. That's the skill that lets you transcribe a song by ear or sight-sing a line you've never seen.
Start with do–mi–sol until you can hit ten in a row, then widen the pool. Most people find fa and ti the hardest, because they're the half-steps — the weak spots panel above will tell you if that's true for you.
